Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the anger-inducing situation and coping type of national team players, and to explore the structural relationship of the results. Methods: The study participants selected 173 athletes from 15 sports among the national athletes of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics through the convience sampling method. Through the open questionnaire, 1,155 anger generation processes, 656 countermeasures, and a total of 1,811 raw materials were secured. The collected data were analyzed through the Grounded Theory Method (Strauss & Corbin, 1988). The anger-inducing situation and coping type were classified into situations during competition participation, competition, training, and daily life, and analyzed in the order of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. Results: categories such as individual skills, referees, facilities and environments, opponents, teams (leaders, colleagues) were derived as anger-inducing situations during competitions and games. Angry situations during training included individual skills, Corona situations, excessive training, and teams (leaders, colleagues). As for anger-inducing situations in daily life, categories such as infringement of the right to rest, interpersonal relationships, and COVID-19 situations showed structural relationships. The core categories of anger response are anger control factors such as relaxation, and talking to oneself. It was predicted that using various anger control mechanisms in anger-inducing situations was positive for psychological stability and successful performance of players.
The Relationship between Moral Behavior, Emotion and Basic Need Satisfaction in Adults’ Physical Activity + 생활체육 참여자의 심리적 욕구, 스포츠 정서와 도덕적 행동의 관계
Purpose: Grounded in the basic psychological needs theory, the present study investigated how the psychological needs satisfaction and psychological needs frustration of participants in sports affect sports emotion (i.e., positive and negative emotion) and moral behavior (i.e., prosocial and antisocial behavior) in physical activity (PA). Methods: To this end, in this study was conducted survey with 334 participants in PA for all. The collected data were frequency, descriptive, reliability, validity, correlation, and path analysis using SPSS and AMOS programs. Results: The results show that first, the psychological needs satisfaction affect on the positive emotions and prosocial behavior. Second, the psychological needs frustration affect on negative emotions and antisocial behavior. Third, the positive emotions had a positive effect on prosocial behavior, whereas negative emotions had a positive effect on antisocial behavior. Conclusion: In conclusion, the results suggest that the psychological needs satisfaction leads to prosocial behavior with experience positive emotions, whereas psychological needs frustration can lead to antisocial behavior by experience negative emotions. Suggestions and recommendation for its use in research pertaining to physical education, exercise, and sport participation are discussed.
Mediating and Moderating Effects of Growth Mindset on the Relationship between Coaching Behavior and Intention to Dropout in Professional Football Players + 프로축구선수가 지각한 코칭행동과 선수생활 포기의도의 관계에서 성장 마인드셋의 매개 및 조절효과
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating and moderating effects of growth mindset of the relationship among autonomy support and controlling coaching behavior, and intention to dropout in professional football players. Methods: The selected 301 survey questionnaires from professional football players (K League 1 and K League 2) were used for final analysis. With the collected data using mediation regression and moderated regression analysis were performed by SPSS 23.0. Results: First, the growth mindset was revealed to partial meniated effect on the relationship between autonomy supportive coaching behavior and intention to dropout, and the relationship between controlling coaching behavior and intention to dropout. Second, the growth mindset was revealed to moderating effect on the relationship between autonomy supportive coaching behavior and intention to dropout, but not moderating effect on the relationship between controlling coaching behavior and intention to dropout. Conclusion: These results mean that the growth mindset was revealed to mediated and moderating effect on the relationship between autonomy supportive coaching behavior and intention to dropout. And the growth mindset was revealed to mediated effect on the relationship between controlling coaching behavior and intention to dropout, but does not have a moderating effect. It also implications of the study and directions for future research performance were discussed.
Development and Application of Injury related Trauma Counseling Program for Elite Athletes + 엘리트 선수의 부상 트라우마 상담 프로그램 개발 및 적용
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and apply the Counseling Program for elite athletes suffering from injury related traumatic symptoms. Methods: Based on the Counseling Program Development Model(Kim Changdae et al., 2010), we developed a short-term cognitive behavioral therapy program consisting of 6 sessions. The developed program applied to two elite athletes experiencing injury related traumatic symptoms. In order to identify the effectiveness of the program, single case pre-post experimental design was conducted using the IES-R, PHQ-9, Injury Anxiety Scale and the program satisfaction questionnaire. In addition, the psychological changes of subjects during the counseling process were described qualitatively. Results: After the application of the program, all of the subjects A and B showed improvements in the IES-R, PHQ-9, Injury Anxiety Scale compared to before the program application. Imagery exposure was the most helpful intervention to both subjects, and subject B answered that cognitive reconstruction was not the most helpful. Conclusion: The Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program was developed and it was helpful for the athletes experiencing injury related traumatic symptoms in this study. And the contents of the program were also familiar to the athletes. Therefore, this program will be useful in the sports field for elite athletes suffering from injury related traumatic symptoms.
The Understanding of Positive Youth Development in Sport and Its Application for Student-athletes + 스포츠에서 청소년의 긍정적 발달 관점의 이해와 학생선수를 위한 적용 방안
Purpose: This study explored ways to apply of Positive Youth Development (PYD) for student-athletes in Korea based on the PYD perspective in sport. Methods: The concept and definition of PYD, recent research trends, the role of significant others, and life skills programs were presented, based on the review of books and articles related to PYD conducted in Korea and abroad. Results: First, the four features that PYD imply are (a) a positive view on youth development, (b) relative plasticity, (c) multidimensional conceptual structure, and (d) circularity. Second, research trends regarding the perspective of PYD include theoretical models, philosophical perspectives, sporting climate for PYD (e.g., relationships with coaches, relationships with peers, parental involvement, etc.), and the effects of life skills programs. Third, the role of coach, parents, and peers is a primary factor to foster PYD for student-athletes, and in particular, systematic intervention strategies such as life skills programs should be applied. Conclusion: Understanding PYD in sport and seeking ways to realize it would contribute to preparing a foundation for supporting the positive psychosocial development of Korean student-athletes.
A Mixed Approach to Psychological Skills Training for Korean National Wrestling Athletes: Based on the Solution-Focused Brief Counseling Model + 해결중심 단기상담 모델 기반 복합심리기술 훈련 단일사례 연구: 국가대표 레슬링 선수를 대상으로

Purpose: This study identified the effect of sport psychological skills training based on the solution-focused brief counseling model to wrestling players. Methods: Participants were five athletes of the Korean national wrestling team. The psychological skills training was conducted through team education and individual counseling. Team education consisted of a total of seven sessions focusing on the themes of self-management, goal setting, and, attribution. Individual counseling was also composed of five stages and eight sessions in line with the solution-focused brief counseling model. Quantitative data were collected using the Test of Performance Strategies (TOPS) and self-management scale through pre- and post-test. Qualitative data were collected based on in-depth individual interview. Results: Qualitative data were analyzed the specific process of solving each player’s problem appealing by session and described focusing on cases. In the pre- and post-test analysis, changes in the mean scores of the TOPS and self-management scores were confirmed in some athletes. Conclusion: The psychological skills training program conducted in this study was found to be effective in solving problems appealed by individual athlete and developing skills that help improve performance. It is necessary to materialize the psychological skills training program for each athlete and expand it to develop a psychological skills training manual specialized for each sport through follow-up research.
Relationship among Self-determination, Collective Efficacy, Team Cohesion of High School Volley Ball Athletes’ + 고교 배구선수의 자기결정성, 집단효능감 및 팀 응집력의 관계

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among self-determination, collective efficacy, team cohesion of high school volley ball athletes’ Methods: 422 data were collected from sport motivation, collective efficacy, team cohesion questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, correlation and multiple regression with SPSS. Results: Subscale of self-determination motivation and collective efficacy and team cohesion are significantly correlated and team cohesion influenced by internal regulation of self-determination and group efficacy and individual efficacy of team efficacy. Conclusion: we explored the role of Self-determination motivation and collective efficacy to team cohesion and suggested the variable of motivation and social cognitive psychology for performance enhancement.
